The no-frills, discount grocery chain Aldi is finalizing its construction plans to begin building its newest Triangle-area store in Garner this spring.
Aldi in December purchased a 3.7-acre site at the corner of Timber Drive and Aversboro Road in Garner for $875,000. The store owners had received Garner Town Council approval in December to build a 17,000-square-foot grocery store building there.
Aldi hasn’t disclosed when the Garner store is slated to open, but based on construction timetables for its other stores in the region, it should be open before the end of the year. It is currently negotiating with construction contractors and subcontractors for the work, according to reports from Carolinas AGC.
