Hunting, fishing and outdoor gear giant Cabela’s (NYSE: CAB) has announced that it will be opening its newest store location in Garner – the first in North Carolina – on April 16 with a week of activities and events that are still being planned.
Anticipation for the 105,000-square-foot Cabela’s store, the anchor retailer in the White Oak Crossing shopping center at the intersection of I-40 and U.S. 70 in Garner, has been building since the Nebraska company announced in fall 2013 that it picked the site.
Cabela’s competitors, including Bass Pro Shop, Field & Stream and Gander Mountain, have also opened new stores in the Triangle region since Cabela’s broke ground in Garner.
Doors will open April 16 at 10 a.m., following a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Cabela’s executives and local town officials.
Cabela’s owns and operates 64 stores in the U.S. and Canada, and it plans to open 13 new stores in 2015, including the Garner location and another near Charlotte in Fort Mill, South Carolina.
Four new restaurants have also announced plans to open new locations adjacent to the Garner Cabela’s, including Raleigh-based Carolina Ale House
