More than 100 community members, came together for the ribbon cutting of Garner’s newest apartment complex, Adeline at White Oak, Thursday afternoon.
The apartment complex, located on Timber Drive East just past Rex Wellness Center, has 336 units, making it one of the biggest in Garner.
And its located in the heart of White Oak.
Among those in attendance were Mayor Ronnie Williams, town manager Hardin Watkins and assistant town manager Rodney Dickerson.
With Cabela’s on its way in April, the construction of South Garner High, and the increasing restaurant selections, there has been a need for increased housing to keep up with the growth and that’s why the owner brought the apartment complex here.
“The owner did a lot of research and knew that it is going to be a mecca of shopping in the area,” Debra Ochsner, the apartment complex’s property manager, said. “He always chooses properties with great access to shopping and immediate access to highways, and this property was no exception.”
The complex officially opened in December 2014.
Town Manager Hardin Wakins said he expects Adeline at White Oak to be beneficial to the housing market and will give residents more options.
“I think what we want to see from housing is you have a menu of choices for folks that want to live in Garner, from large single family homes, smaller single family homes, to apartments,” Watkins said. So the more options people have and the more choices people have, it just gives everybody a full range of places to live where (someone) can do a little bit of everything here.
“There will be that many more folks in the town, which is what we want to see.”
Garner is home to 20 apartment complexes, ranging from 15 units to 338 units. Greenfield Apartments has also been approved and is expected to start construction soon.
